It's hip to be square
Article Abstract:
The sleeve art produced by jazz record label Blue Note Records from 1951 can be seen as a significant element of modernism in the applied arts in the mid-20th century. This record label acted as a pioneer in graphic design, and its unique visual style can still be seen today under the ownership of EMI. Blue Note's most influential designer was Reid Miles, who worked with the label between 1956 and 1967. His designs often used the photographs of Francis Wolff.

Soul duo K-Ci & JoJo is playing a significant role in reviving true soul music. K-Ci, the older of the two Hailey brothers, specializes in deep growls, while JoJo offers contrast with smooth tones. They released their first album as K-Ci & JoJo in 1996. This album, 'Love Always,' sold more than 1 million in the US. Their follow-up album, 'It's Real,' is more mainstream, but they remain deeply committed to soul music.
