Founder and co-owner of Williams Grand Prix Engineering, Didcot, Oxfordshire, England, Frank Williams, is passionate about Formula One racing despite being quadraplegic since 1986. He broke his neck in a car accident and needs constant attention from nurses. Williams was born in Jarrow in 1942 and brought up by his mother. He left school at 17 and worked in a garage. In 1969 he bought a Brabham and entered Formula One races. In the 1970s he took on Patrick Head as a partner and designer with sponsorship from Saudia Airlines.

The Arthur Wilson House in Coventry, England, created in 1997 by Ben-Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund and Peugeot car plant, is the only workplace day centre for the elderly in the UK. It caters for up to 25 people, and offers a range of activities and services. The cost per user is a maximum of 15 pounds sterling per day, which includes meals and refreshments. It was established with the aim of helping those who bear the burden of caring for elderly relatives.

Stubborn Mansell driven to distraction
Article Abstract:
World champion Nigel Mansell, British grand prix driver, announced his retirement. He raced for Ferrari, who made him feel wanted, in 1989 but when Alain Prost began he felt vunerable. Frank Williams gave him the opportunity to race for Williams-Renault. Mansell had no funds for his sport so he began racing with a lawn-mower engine. He is a very competitive, stubborn man who became renowned for outrageous overtaking manoeuvres.
