Jerry Capehart
Article Abstract:
Songwriter and manager Jerry Capehart began to see some success with his songs in the early 1950s, but his singing career did not really take off. He met Eddie Cochran in Bell Gardens, CA, in Oct 1955, and used the Cochran Brothers to cut demos of his songs. He was subsequently to become Cochran's co-writer, producer, manager and friend. Cochran's first solo single was released on American Music's Crest label in 1956, and this encouraged Capehart to take Cochran into the Gold Star studios to cut more demos.

Reluctant role model facing up to his inner demons
Article Abstract:
It can be difficult to write funny, happy songs after many years of dealing with depression, according to songwriter Art Alexakis, lead singer with rock group Everclear. His songs often turn out twisted and sad, even though he does want them to. Many people believe that his songs are autobiographical, but he does not feel that this is the case. When his songs are autobiographical, they seem to be connected with something universal with which other people can identify.
