Just plain old Mr Smith
Article Abstract:
The UK government is not placing too much emphasis on entertainment at the expense of culture, according to Minister for Culture Chris Smith. He greatly enjoys his brief, and is determined to achieve the best possible outcomes for culture. He believes that digital television and the introduction of more channels could bring benefits, and regards the BBC as forming a solid core for broadcasting as a whole in the UK. He particularly enjoys news and current affairs programmes, along with programmes about mountaineering and hillwalking, in which he is very interested.

Mo's mission impossible?
Article Abstract:
It is very important to live life to the full, according to Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Mo Mowlam. She was very careful not to worry unnecessarily when she was found to have a brain tumour, and she also does not feel beleaguered by the Northern Irish peace process. She feels frustrated about the attitudes of the participants in the peace process, but remains determined to continue her work. She does not believe that it is likely that the peace process will collapse.

Ask a silly question
Article Abstract:
There no longer any good news programmes on television in the UK, according to former broadcaster Sir Robin Day. He feels that ITV has been very badly affected by the decision to drop 'News At Ten,' and feels that the standard of 'Channel 4 News' has declined. He regrets the fact that he is no longer asked to interview politicians, as young men and women are now in demand. He feels nostalgic about his appearances on the 'Morecombe and Wise' show.
