Key Lockerbie evidence 'is flawed.'
Article Abstract:
Doubts have been raised about key elements of the prosecution case against the two Libyans accused of planting the bomb that caused a Pan Am aircraft to explode over Lockerbie, Scotland, on Dec 21, 1988. New evidence challenges the claim that a tiny fragment of electronic circuit board found in the baggage of the crashed aircraft is identical to timing devices sold by Swiss electronics concern Mebo to Libya before the bombing. A Channel Four programme also challenges the prosecution case that the bomb was placed on the aircraft in Malta.

Mandela breaks Lockerbie stalemate
Article Abstract:
South African President Nelson Mandela has shown great commitment to brokering an agreement between the UK and Libya over the trial of Libyans Basset Ali al-Megrahi and Lamen Khalifa Fhimah, who are suspected of planting the bomb that exploded on Dec 21, 1988, on a Pan Am Boeing 747 jet over Lockerbie, Scotland. He has now managed to persuade Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi to hand over the suspects. The trial will take place in the Netherlands under Scottish law and in front of Scottish judges.

A long and painful road to justice
Article Abstract:
It may be some time before Libyans Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi and al-Amin Khalifa Fhimah, who are suspected of involvement in the bombing of Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, on Dec 21, 1988, are brought to trial. So far, the evidence brought by the authorities is not compelling, and there is a slight risk that the presiding judges will throw the case out of court. Recent evidence seems to confirm claims that Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi was involved.
