Kuwait pumps too much oil much too soon
Article Abstract:
Since the Gulf War ended Kuwait has over-pumped 20% of its oilfields and allowed water penetration because it hurried to resume production. Sabotage destroyed reservoir pressure controls so closure and analysis for a year would have been prudent. Kuwait oilfields lie above a salt water aquiver and a pressure loss makes water seep into the oilfield at random. Economists believe the government needed to regain the 12 billion pounds sterling, 22 billion $, paid to the allies in the war. Mr Homoud al-Rqobah, Oil Minister, would not permit Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to reduce production in March 1992. One million barrels are produced a day.

Article Abstract:
The year 2000 survivalist movement is gaining a growing number of followers across North America as concerns increase about the chaos likely to result from the year 2000 computer date change problem. Some observers believe that there will be total social breakdown, including rioting, murder and starvation. Some year 2000 survivalists are calling for people to abandon cities and establish secret hiding places in the countryside. In some cases, plans are being made to establish year 2000 survivalist villages.

Coming soon: the big tease
Article Abstract:
Film trailers have always attracted more attention than other forms of advertising, but have recently begun to take on cult status. Today's trailers are very short compared with their predecessors, but are full of action and excitement. Indeed, they have almost become mini films in their own right. They are subjected to very reductive editing, and this makes them the most pure expression of the genre. Some trailers even outclass the feature films they are supposed to be advertising.
