What does it mean to be English today?
Article Abstract:
There is considerable confusion surrounding the terms English and British. Most people living in the UK regard themselves as either English, Welsh or Scottish, and the term British is only really used for administrative purposes. There are also problems associated with distinguishing Englishness from Scottishness and Welshness. It may be possible to identify a national character, but it is important to recognize that this character is made up of features that are also found in other cultures.

Selling the family copper: the British Police plc
Article Abstract:
The Conservative party is now turning away from the traditional approach to policing in the UK. Police organisation is now taking on the culture and practices of private enterprise, and the restriction of investment in public policing is allowing private sector operations to emerge.
