Labour faces up to the English Question
Article Abstract:
The Labour party has successfully campaigned on nationalist issues, and now has considerable support in Wales and Scotland. However, it must broaden its appeal if it is to become a strong party of government. It cannot afford to ignore mainstream English voters, and must make efforts to develop a more Anglocentric agenda. Any initial constitutional initiatives must appeal to voters in the South as well as those in the North, Wales and Scotland.

Tony Blair's Victorian values
Article Abstract:

Party leader Tony Blair has come to embody the very spirit of new Labour, showing great self-confidence. However, his real political values will soon come to be shown if the Labour party becomes the party of government in 1996 or 1997.

The great American stalemate
Article Abstract:
Both the Republicans and the Democrats in the US have made the mistake of raising the expectations of ordinary people and then failing to deliver any real change. This has led to widespread disillusionment with both parties. This should serve as a lesson to the Labour party in the UK. The party is currently highly respected in the US, but should not follow the example of US politics.
