Article Abstract:
Country rock group Gomez has become very well known in a very short time. Indeed, some people have raised doubts about the group's authenticity because it has made so much progress so quickly. The group's members do not feel that it is strange that their music should sound so genuinely American, given that the UK has a long tradition of bands looking to US influences. They all have very extensive personal record collections, and many different influences are clear in their music. The group's album 'Bring It On' can be regarded as the most innovative UK rock album so far in 1998.

Austin - allegro country
Article Abstract:
The city of Austin, TX, has fewer than 1 million inhabitants, but has gained a strong reputation for its live music scene. It is particularly well known for the South-by-South-West Festival, which takes place each Mar. Most visitors to Austin come to visit clubs, listen to live music and drink the full-bodied European-style beers preferred by locals. Sixth Street, close to the capitol building, is five blocks of little except clubs and venues.

Driving out the boomtown brats
Article Abstract:
The area around the harbour in Galveston, TX, is mainly occupied by petrochemical plants, but the southern side of the city offers beaches and attractive 19th century buildings. There are many art galleries and craft stores in disused warehouses. The downtown region has a number of small museums, and it is also worth visiting the Moody Gardens. Galveston is largely a weekend destination, and its bars are very quiet during the week.
