Last supper at the bribery banquet
Article Abstract:
During the last year it has become apparent that corruption permeates the Italian political scene to an almost unbelievable level, involving 30 cities, the arrest of 830 businessmen and politicians, suspicion of a thousand more and investigations of the affairs of over 50 members of parliament. A total of 60,000 people are thought to be involved. The murder of investigating judges by the Mafia infuriated the general public. The collapse of the affair was initiated by the fall of Communism and, with it, that of the Italian Communist Party. This left the other parties exposed and open to view for the first time.

The blagger's banquet
Article Abstract:
It is extremely difficult for non-members to gain entry to the most fashionable private members' clubs in London, England. At Soho House, for example, there is an 18-month waiting list for membership, and greeters check the credentials of everybody seeking entry. It may just be possible for non-members to gain entry to some private members' clubs by making up a feasible story, but it is more likely that non-members will suffer the humiliation of being turned away.
