Rosemary West is currently standing trial accused of being involved with her late husband Frederick in the abuduction, sexual abuse and murder of 10 girls and young women. A police investigation sparked off by the disappearance of one of the couple's daughters led to mutilated bodies being unearthed at a number of locations. The first murder was in 1973, but the body was not discovered until 1994.

The trial of Rosemary West has included taped evidence given by Frederick West, her late husband. The court heard him tell detectives about six murders, including those of his daughter Heather and his first wife. He stated that he had undertaken the murders alone.
