Magnets for talent
Article Abstract:
There are very good social and commercial reasons to encourage new creative talent in UK broadcasting, according to David Docherty, BBC Broadcast Director of Strategy and Channel Development, in a speech to the Royal Television Society. Creativity plays a key role in the development of public culture, and talent will also be extremely important in differentiating between the new broadcasting platforms which are now emerging. The most successful broadcasters will be those which set out to become magnets for talent.

Festive fun, by George
Article Abstract:
The village of Archova, Greece, holds a three-day festival every year in honour of St George, its patron saint. This begins with singing, dancing and sporting events, and ends with a church service and celebration meal. Local people dress up in traditional costume, and a large procession is led by the priest. Local legend tells that St George saved the village from a dragon, and the shepherds of the village subsequently honoured St George every year to ensure his protection for another year.
