Man with a mission
Article Abstract:
The UK film industry should be much more active in marketing its products, according to film producer David Puttnam. He believes that it is vital not to take audiences for granted, and points to the problems which can arise when producers focus too heavily on the mechanical aspects of film-making, such as costumes and sets. He feels that it may be possible to sustain the recent revival in the UK film industry, but only if extensive distribution and marketing work is undertaken. He welcomes lottery funding for the industry, as long as this does not cause costs to get out of control.

Torment in Tinseltown
Article Abstract:
Australian filmmaker Bill Bennett feels that it is never possible to trust somebody entirely, even if you known them very well. This view inspired his film 'Kiss or Kill,' in which a young man and a young woman commit a crime, go on the run and murder several people. The film has a very rapid pace, in line with Bennett's desire to make a fast and passionate film and experiment with the camera. He did not hold conventional auditions, and the dialogue was largely improvised.

The world in a drop of water
Article Abstract:
Krzystof Wierzbicki, who produced the documentary 'Krysztof Kiewlowski: I'm So So', not many months before Kiewloski, Polish film director, died in March 1996, made the film because he wanted people to see Kiewlowski, his friend, as a real person and not just a film-maker. The only reason Kiewlowski collaborated in the film was the opportunity which it gave him to collude with Jacek Petrycki, the cinematographer, and Michael Zarnacki as well as Wierzbicki.
