A good degree and a 20,000 pounds sterling debt
Article Abstract:
Many students at colleges and universities in the UK now receive only a nominal grant from the government, or even no grant at all. Furthermore, a number of institutions have already announced that they intend to charge tuition fees if the government allows them to. It is clear that students and their families will have to meet an increasingly large proportion of the cost of higher education. Estimates indicate that the abolition of the maintenance grant will mean that the average student owes 20,625 pounds sterling by the end of a three-year degree course.

High returns? Wait for it...
Article Abstract:
UK investors will earn more interest from investments if they are prepared to wait for withdrawal, and should take great care in choosing the correct account. Some investors place their savings in several accounts in the hope of receiving extra payments in case of mergers, but this might not happen and they will earn less interest by doing so. Some higher interest accounts require a high minimum investment, and there can be penalties for early withdrawal. Banks, building societies and National Savings all offer savings accounts.

Dial M for a mortgage
Article Abstract:
There are now more than 20 well-known mortgage lenders in the UK which run telephone mortgage services. In many cases, calls are free, and it is possible to telephone in the evening or at the weekend. It will often be possible for the lender to make a provisional mortgage offer very quickly, and the lender will generally be able to calculate what the monthly repayments would be. In some cases, lenders can fill in most of the application form over the telephone.
