Marguerite McBey
Article Abstract:
Painter Marguerite McBey attended a finishing school in Switzerland before studying bookbinding at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, France. She then studied photography in New York, NY, and took a studio on West 57th Street. After her marriage in Mar 1931, she travelled in Spain and Morocco. She was extremely attracted to Morocco, and it became her favourite country. She and her husband were in the US when the second world war broke out, and were unable to return to Morocco until 1946. They settled in Tangier, Morocco, and she gradually began to paint following her husband's death in 1959.

Printer, letter designer and carver William Carter was born in Slough, England, in 1912. He became an apprentice at Unwin Brothers at 16, and in 1930 founded the Rampant Lions Press.

Typographer and inventor Robert Norton was born in London, England, in 1929. He worked for a time in New York, NY, and Jamaica, and later founded Digital Type Systems.
