Win some, lose some
Article Abstract:
Stephen Twigg, Labour MP for Enfield Southgate, England, believes that his victory over Conservative Defence Secretary Michael Portillo in the May 1997 general election was not simply the result of a protest vote against the Conservative government. He is one of only three openly gay MPs, and is very aware of the danger of becoming too closely associated with issues relating to the gay community. He is keen to persuade all MPs to support equality initiatives, however they conduct their personal lives.

Sanctuary of silence
Article Abstract:
The Benedictine sisters at Tyburn Convent in London, England, are seeking to use the media to attract new recruits, even though the nuns themselves have very little contact with the media. They live a very austere life, and rarely leave the convent. They acknowledge that their way of life will not appeal to many people, but believe that the modern world still contains people with vocational qualities. Their way of life brings them great fulfillment and contentment.
