What Zaha Hadid next
Article Abstract:
Architect Zaha Hadid has been responsible for designing the exhibition entitled 'Addressing the Century: 100 Years of Art & Fashion' at the Hayward Gallery in London, England. Peter Wollen, the exhibition's curator, believes that commissioning an architect in this way represents a shift towards a new era of collaboration between architects, artists and designer-makers. Hadid has arranged the space at the Hayward Gallery to alter the visitor's focus, thus either distancing visitors or drawing them closer to the objects on display.

Habitat man is not quite what you might expect
Article Abstract:
Good design should be available to everybody, according to Tom Dixon, who is to take over as head of Habitat's design studio on Jan 5, 1998. He first came to the attention of the general public with his 'S' chair, which is now made by Italian manufacturer Cappellini. He regrets that this sells for almost 1,000 pounds sterling, thus removing it from the mass market. He found it hard to mainstream his innovative designs during the 1980s, but has since been successful with the Jack lamp that doubles as a stool.
