Moi under siege on streets of Nairobi
Article Abstract:
The political atmosphere in Kenya has become extremely tense, and there has been a rise in the number of public protests calling for the lifting of restrictions on political organization, speech and movement. Some observers believe that President Daniel arap Moi is determined to secure a further period in office when elections take place later in 1997 by using repressive legislation which was introduced during the colonial era. Most recently, students have clashed with police loyal to the government.
