Mr Coca takes on US in drugs war
Article Abstract:
Evo Morales, leader of the main coca growers' unions in Bolivia, is being held responsible by the US for a series of clashes in the Chapare region, where he was elected as a member of the Bolivian parliament, earlier in 1998. He claims that the problems in the region are being used by President Hugo Banzer to distract attention from the country's real problems. He emphasizes that coca leaf has been grown in the foothills of the Andes for centuries, and has made this into a human rights issue.

The roving ambassador starts work
Article Abstract:
The present visit to Argentina by Princess Diana is the most high profile visit of its kind since the Falklands war. It is also regarded as an opportunity for her to demonstrate that she can play an effective role as a 'roving ambassador.' She has had a very mixed reception, with some greeting her almost as a star, others with curiosity and others with open hostility. She has already been verbally attacked by the mother of a soldier who was killed in the Falklands.
