Mr Livingstone can be defeated by argument
Article Abstract:
It can be argued that there are reasons by Ken Livingstone should be prevented from being considered for the Labour party's nomination as candidate for Mayor of London, England. However, it would be better to take the risk of letting him compete directly against Frank Dobson for support from within the Labour party in London. This is because there is a danger that, if disqualified, Livingstone would stand as an independent candidate, prompting defections and expulsions. It can be assumed that ordinary voters would object if Livingstone were disqualified.

Earthquake in Enfield: the night Middle England turned red
Article Abstract:
The roots of the landslide election victory by the UK Labour party in May 1997 stretched much further back than the campaigning that preceded the election. Most significantly, voters were not prepared to give the Conservative party the credit for economic recovery, because this party failed to take the blame for the preceding recession. However, the election was still won to a certain extent by the Labour party, rather than being simply lost by the Conservative party.

She's just not Tony's kind of socialist
Article Abstract:
The recent decision by the national executive of the Labour party to refuse to endorse Liz Davies as the parliamentary candidate for Leeds North East has attracted considerable controversy. The decision was taken because she is seen as having constantly opposed the policies of the mainstream of the party. The issue could lead to arguments at the party's forthcoming annual conference, and some observers regard it has having serious implications for party democracy.
