Mr Trimble deserves this chance to make politics work
Article Abstract:
Northern Ireland's Good Friday Agreement is in crisis following Ulster Unionist leader David Trimble's failure to be re-elected as First Minister. It seems that this crisis will be overcome and that Trimble will be re-elected, but this will involve paying a heavy price.

David Trimble's curious alliance
Article Abstract:
The Ulster Unionist party is severely divided over the decision by David Trimble, its leader, to allow Jim Nicholson, the party's only MEP, to join Sir James Goldsmith's Europe of Nations group in the European Parliament in return for a payment of around 200,000 pounds sterling to the Ulster Unionists. The Ulster Unionists could bring down the UK's Conservative government if they decide to withdraw their support, so this has the potential to be a very significant development. Many observers interpret the move as a sign of a growing rift between the Conservative party and the Ulster Unionists.

Ms Mowlam isn't perfect, but she's a beacon of hope for Ulster
Article Abstract:
Strong public criticism by Ulster Unionist leader David Trimble of Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Mo Mowlam can be regarded as part of the tough stance adopted by Trimble in the run-up to the forthcoming crucial negotiations designed to move the Northern Irish peace process forwards again. He is aware that his party is rebellious and that he cannot be seen to be making too many concessions. Mowlam is not perfect, but she has shown great courage in both her private life and her political life. Ordinary people in Northern Ireland still have hope in the peace process.
