No room on the slopes
Article Abstract:
Many Britons have already booked skiing holidays for the 1997 to 1998 season, and it is therefore very unlikely that tour operators will be making attractive late-booking bargains available. Demand has been particularly boosted by the fact that favourable exchange rates during the 1996 to 1997 season made skiing holidays less expensive than many travellers had anticipated. There is very strong demand for skiing holidays in countries which have been made attractive by exchange rate variations. These include Austria, Switzerland and France.

It's a carve up on the slopes
Article Abstract:
'Carving' skis, which are also known as 'side-cuts' or 'parabolics,' have become extremely popular in the 1996-1997 skiing season. They are wide at the front, curve inwards from either side down to the binding and then form a fish-tail shape at the back. They allow an average intermediate skier to perform a carved turn, a feat which can achieved only by a very high quality skier with ordinary skis. This type of ski is now being made by many leading manufacturers, and is in great demand among skiers.
