No sex please, we live in an old people's home
Article Abstract:
Old people's homes do not provide any privacy for sexual activity and feel women should be protected. Psychologists are called to deal with 'inappropriate behaviour' but sometimes it is the staff who cannot handle the residents' conduct. Counselling and discussion of sexual problems and drug effects are often unavailable. A few residential homes offer double rooms but two-seater sofas could be provided in communal lounges, more activities for people to meet together could be organised and celebratory meals with wine would provide occasions to develop relationships. Older staff might be more understanding.

Fifty-plus and face to face with Aids
Article Abstract:
Aids is generally seen as a disease which affects only young people, but there are in fact 1,000 people in the UK over 50 who are HIV positive, and 11% of people with Aids are over 50. Older people with Aids can find it very hard to get help, as support is focused on younger sufferers, and it can be very difficult to educate them about Aids issues, as they are usually less willing to talk about sex and sexuality. Aids groups are now starting to address the sense of isolation and fear of rejection often experienced by older sufferers.
