Now is the month of Maying
Article Abstract:
Magdalen College in Oxford, England, has a very long musical history. It has attracted a long succession of well known composers, including in recent times Henry Purcell's brother Daniel and Richard Nicholson, the first Heather Professor of Music at Oxford University. A key musical tradition at the college is the choral Mayfest, which involves choristers performing at the top of the college's Great Tower to mark the rising May Day sun. Collins Classics has recently released a collection of music which traces the college's musical history.

The trecento gets the techno treatment
Article Abstract:
There is a common link between techno-trance type music, drone-based medieval works and the concept of spaciousness in music, according to Stevie Wishart. With her group Sinfonye, she has released 'Red Iris,' claimed to be the first medieval music CD-Rom. This offers a medieval dreamscape which was created by Wishart in close collaboration with designer Kate Richards. It includes many different elements, including bird-song and echoes of Vespa mopeds.
