On the street where you live
Article Abstract:
Police forces in many cities in the UK are dealing with prostitution by forcing it off the streets and into massage parlours. Birmingham is going even further, considering establishing a 'zone of tolerance,' an area within the city solely for prostitution. Attitudes to prostitution seem to be changing, with police and local councillors seeking radical new solutions to old problems. Prostitutes themselves are being less frequently targeted, and attention is turning instead to pimps and clients.

Real men work part-time, too
Article Abstract:
There are now almost 1 million men in the UK who work part-time, even though most people still think of part-time work as being the exclusive domain of women. Men who work part-time often encounter strange reactions, being seen either as very progressive or as a victim of economic circumstances. However, many organisations are now aiming part-time jobs at men as well as at women.

Crash course in the joy of risk
Article Abstract:
UK society places too much emphasis on parenting, according to Frank Furedi, author of 'Paranoid Parenting: Abandon Your Anxieties and be a Good Parent.' He regrets the fact that children are now regarded as the entire responsibility of their parents, rather than of society as a whole.
