Playing with the devil within
Article Abstract:
Everybody contains within them the rapist, murderer or paedophile, according to actor Jeremy Irons, defending the film 'Lolita,' in which a man in his 40s has a relationship with a 14-year-old girl. He feels that the character he plays is a monster, because he harms a child. However, he is also quite likeable. Irons feels that the film's seductiveness is what made it unreleasable. The film taints viewers, and does not allow them to remain distant from the action. His character in this film is one of a number of obsessive characters he has played.

Deep waters running still
Article Abstract:
Actress Charlotte Gainsbourg does not feel that she is very similar to Marie, the character she plays in Marion Vernoux's film 'Love Etc.' She does not believe that she is frightened to let go of her emotions, as Marie is. However, she never tries to see what is close to her in a part. She derives pleasure from becoming lost in her roles, and does not wish to be too conscious of herself. She often plays characters who seem unconcerned by taboos.
