Postcards from the hedge
Article Abstract:
The UK has seen the loss of 150,000 miles of hedgerow since 1945. Some observers believe that this is not necessarily a negative trend, as the landscape is inevitably constantly changing and removing hedgerows makes farming much more efficient and productive. However, opponents of hedgerow removal argue that hedgerows are an articulation of many years of history. Along with trees and woodlands, they have formed a significant element of the national sense of self in the UK. In modern times, they represent continuity and a link with the community's past relationship with the land.

Sex, lust and confusion
Article Abstract:
Many British men seem to be attracted to women who are able to take charge. This ability is regarded by many men as more attractive than a woman's appearance. This trend applies to men from all social classes, not just to those who were brought up at a distance from their mother. The other main type of woman to whom British men are attracted is the large-breasted blonde. Such women appear to be very sexy, but men do not generally expect genuine intimacy from them.
