It is only a scribblers' parliament
Article Abstract:
Most politicians in the UK do very little writing beyond occasional ghosted pieces in tabloid newspapers. However, there are a few who have written book-length works. Most of these are on serious political or social matters or are memoirs. A number of politicians have written biographies, while others have focused on political history. These works have attracted less interest than the few novels which have been written by politicians. Those who have written novels include Brian Sedgemore, Chris Mullin and Peter Hain.

Postcards from the edge
Article Abstract:
Novelist Timothy Mo expresses great admiration for UK society, but does not wish to live permanently in the UK, as he seeks fresh and interesting subject-matter. He set up Paddleless Press, his own publishing operation, following a lack of interest from publishers in his 1995 novel 'Brownout on Breadfruit Boulevard,' but does not feel that self-publishing necessarily means lower editorial standards. Indeed, he emphasizes that his work is now very closely scrutinized.

Intimacy with Hanif Kureishi
