Power of the union in Downing St
Article Abstract:
The marriage of UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and Cherie Booth is an example of how communication and respect are at the heart of a successful marriage. They are both ambitious and competitive, but have been able to reach compromises on key issues. They have realized that marriage is not just a romantic relationship, and that it is vital to have shared goals and respect. Both have been able to pursue a successful career, but they have ensured that they have a strong family life and that their children's interests are taken into account.

Can you say the unsayable when Downing Street is your client?
Article Abstract:
UK think-tanks such as the Institute for Public Policy Research and Demos believe that they need to be close to the new Labour government in order to influence it. However, they deny that they are too close to the government and therefore simply say what it wants them to say. They feel that politicians do not remain influential for very long, and they seek to take a wider view, being prepared to think and speak in ways which would not be acceptable in politicians.
