Prescott to approve bus lanes for wider M25
Article Abstract:
Dedicated lanes for buses, coaches and cars carrying passengers will be provided by a scheme to widen 12 miles of the M25 motorway around London, UK. The project is still being strongly opposed by environmentalists, although the g overnment is expected to drop the GB 1bn plan to widen the M1 and M6 motorways in its roads review on 28 July 1998. The review is also expected to include a GB 80mn project to build a tunnel to carry the A3 under the Devil's Punch Bowl environmentally-sensitive area near Hindhead in Surrey. A toll system could be imposed to help with the high cost of the project.
