Article Abstract:
There has been great public outcry about the life sentence imposed on Private Lee Clegg, who shot dead a teenage joyrider who was in a car which burst through a Paratroop Regiment checkpoint in Belfast in 1990. Many people feel that he was a victim of circumstances, having only acted as he was trained to do in the presence of a possible terrorist threat. Following extensive campaigning, there is now a chance that he will be released.
