The secret is in the breeding
Article Abstract:
The Barnhaven strain of primroses, originally grown by Jared Sinclair, is being continued at a number of nurseries in the UK, particularly Sonia Wright's nursery in Wiltshire, England. Barnhaven primulas are easy to grow, and will withstand harsh weather conditions. However, the compost must not get too wet, as this will cause the roots to rot. They grow best when planted out in open ground, and will tolerate heavy, damp clay. Gardeners are particularly attracted to their muted and unexpected colours.

Girls just want to have fun
Article Abstract:
Those who wish to use their garden for outdoor activities such as barbecues in the summer should consider having a gravelled area, as gravel is a very practical surface. It is worth using a border area for salad crops such as rocket, endive and chicory, as these can be used to accompany barbecued foods. Lilies provide summer colour, and also have an attractive scent in the evening. It is possible to grow vegetables to barbecue, but this requires quite a lot of space.

Meet Lord Suffield - a great cooker
Article Abstract:
Advice on choosing and planting apple trees is presented. Apple trees are not self-fertile, so more than one variety is required in the garden. Successful cross-pollination needs trees that will be in blossom at the same time. It is better to purchase bare-root trees than container-grown ones.
