Professor O.V.S. Heath
Article Abstract:
Plant scientist Oscar Heath is particularly well remembered for his work on stomata. However, he made significant contributions to overall understanding of how plants grow and function, and was also influential for his approaches to experimental science. He was extremely interested in experimentation, and creating a leading centre for plant physiology at Reading University. He became director of a special unit of Flower Crop Physiology created at Shinfield Grange by the Agricultural Research Council in 1961.

Professor W.B. Matthews
Article Abstract:
Neurologist Walter Matthews was born in London, England, in 1920. He studied Medicine at University College, Oxford, England, and trained in neurology in Manchester, England, and at King's College Hospital, London. He became a consultant physician at the age of 34.
