Professor Paul Oskar Kristeller
Article Abstract:
Philosopher Paul Oskar Kristeller trained in classical philology. During his university years, he also developed an interest in philosophy. His career in Germany came to an end with the Nazi victory in 1933, but he obtained a position as lecturer in German at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy. His 'Supplementum Ficinaianum' was published in 1937 and his 'The Philosophy of Marsilio Ficino' in 1943. In autumn 1939, he gained a one-year contract to teach philosophy at Columbia University. He was to retain links with this university for the rest of his life.

When they publish, damn them
Article Abstract:
The recent decision to abandon the trial of Geoff Knights highlights the dangers of excessive coverage of some cases by the tabloid newspapers. In this case, the newspapers had given the issues involved so much coverage that it would have been impossible for a fair trial to go ahead. However, the newspapers have expressed no regrets about their actions, even though they broke the law.
