Prudent to the last
Article Abstract:
The UK department of trade and industry has recently put forward plans for increasing controls on the sale of pre-paid funeral plans, a sector which is now worth 150 million pounds sterling. Purchasers of these plans are able to select the funeral they require and pay for it straight away. The money is held in trust until death, and the scheme ensures that all arrangements are made in advance, thus relieving grieving relatives of the burden. Until now, the sector has not been regulated at all, and some investors have risked not having enough money to cover all funeral expenses.

What happens after the last dance is over?
Article Abstract:
The Dance Companies Resettlement Fund is funded by five leading UK ballet companies. It gives grants to dancers who are coming to the end of their dancing career and moving into a second career. It encourages dancers to think positively about their future, rather than regarding the end of their dancing career as the end of their career development altogether. Dancers may lack confidence initially when they embark upon a new career, but then often find that the discipline they learnt while dancing brings them considerable benefits.
