Publish and be damned clever
Article Abstract:
It is becoming increasingly common in the UK for journalists to write fiction too. Some journalists have been attracted to fiction in order to make more money and boost their public profile, while others have been actively encouraged to write fiction by publishers. In most cases, fiction written by journalists has close associations with the world of journalism. Some fiction by journalists is successful, while in other cases journalists find that they cannot really combine two different activities.

Powells apart
Article Abstract:
Channel 4 has invested a great deal of time and money in its television dramatization of Anthony Powell's novel sequence 'A Dance to the Music of Time.' This production, which features a number of well-known actors and actresses, is being promoted as the key feature of Channel 4's schedule for autumn 1997. Some observers have expressed reservations about whether it has really been possible to reduce 12 full-size novels to only four two-hour films.
