Back pain? Don't take it lying down
Article Abstract:
Research shows that two to three days rest is better than seven days except for disc damage. Exercise helps recovery 74% more than self treatment. Physiotherapy is often offered too late: it is needed two to six weeks after an attack. In 1990 60 million working days were lost due to back pain. The Back Pain Association financed physiotherapist Helen Frost of the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford, England to research active rehabilitation.
