Release of 44 prisoners is all that prevents accord
Article Abstract:
Peace talks are being held between Israeli and Palestinian leaders, and the main obstacle appears to be disagreement on how many Palestinians prisoners should be released. The agreement is scheduled for signing in Egypt. The Palestinians are asking for 400 prisoners to be set free, and Israel is offering to release 356. There are around 200 members of the Fatah organization in Israeli jails, and Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, has been criticised for not securing their release. Israeli leader, Ehud Barak is also vulnerable to criticism if he allows freedom for Palestinians who have killed Jews.

Carnage born out of Israel's policy of rejection
Article Abstract:
Israel's policy toward Palestine has been to demand co-operation on security issues from Yasser Arafat, leader of Palestine. The Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has rejected a partnership with Palestine in other areas. Netanyahu has hinted that an Israeli withdrawal will affect 40% of the West Bank rather than the 90% expected by Arafat. The Palestinian authorities cannot imprison terrorists without public support. Netanyahu has little understanding of Palestinian politics and mistakenly believes that stern measures will control Palestinians.
