The feel-good-about-yourself factor
Article Abstract:
Children need to have self-esteem if they are to achieve their full potential. It is vital that they are worth liking, feel proud of their gifts and themselves, feel important, and feel that they are in control of their lives. It is, however, possible to overemphasise the subject and undermine the self-esteem of children. Self-esteem without achievements of some kind is false, and it is wrong to focus only on praising children, without offering constructive criticism where it is needed.
