Article Abstract:
The Internet is set to account for 18% of total leisure travel sales in 1998. However, the real impact of the Internet on the travel industry is hard to assess. Tour operators, hotels, cruise lines and airlines are certainly seeing changes in their distribution channels, but seem to be replacing traditional links with new deals with online intermediaries. It is likely that travel companies will begin to distribute more information on the Internet, while leading travel Web sites will offer access to a very wide range of tickets.

Banks go from high street to high bandwidth
Article Abstract:
All high street banks in the UK will before long offer access to accounts, transactions and purchasing via the Internet. At present, only Royal Bank of Scotland, Nationwide and the Co-operative Bank offer full Web-banking services, but a number of other institutions offer home banking services. They are using these services as a way of gaining customer confidence before moving to the Internet. Bank-operated Web sites are designed to be user-friendly and intimate, and offer links to additional services.
