Saboteurs prepare hunt showdown
Article Abstract:
The Southern Anti-Blood Sports Society is a more militant group of hunt saboteurs including the Brixton Mob. It organised a protest against the Essex Foxhounds near Chelmsford, Essex in Jan 1993 and besieged the hunt kennels of the Cowdray Hunt near Petworth, Sussex in Feb 1993. Protests involve about 100 people, some of whom have short wave radios and video cameras. Some hunts use security firms. The Portman Foxhounds in Dorset expect violent sabotage.

Disenchantment at leadership's loss of common touch
Article Abstract:
The Cynon Valley is a traditional Labour supporting area, but the closure of the pits created everyday problems for the unemployed who receive little help from politicians. Ward meetings feel the government should be defeated somehow and consider a deal between the Labour party and the Liberal Democrats. The Labour party policy to attract the southern, middle-class vote alienates the traditional supporters.
