Scramble before the facts
Article Abstract:
Many scientists are growing increasingly concerned about the way in which journalists find out about and report significant scientific developments before the scientists themselves are actually ready to release details. Some feel that this trend can have an unsettling influence on the scientific process, in which research work is normally reviewed by other scientists before it is published. In some cases, the premature announcement of a scientific development has led to extensive speculation which has later been found to be unfounded.

It's not getting there
Article Abstract:
There have been significant problems associated with making maglev transport systems, in which a passenger compartment levitates just above a monorail track, a commercial reality. The maglev system seems to offer some advantages, but the main difficulty is that it requires very large amounts of energy. Furthermore, some observers have also raised concerns about the safety of maglev systems. Most countries have abandoned attempts to develop maglev systems, but efforts are still being made in Germany and Japan

A comet full of soup
Article Abstract:
The chief scientist at Nasa, the US space agency, Dr. Michael Mumma, believes that there is evidence to support a number of the theories of Professor J. Mayo Greenburg, of Leiden University, Germany, expert in astrophysics, which indicate that comets hit Earth around 4 billion years ago, creating life on earth. Experts believe that comets do not contain living material, but complex organic molecules which make up living things.
