Self-portrait as a pantomime horse
Article Abstract:
The Ikon Gallery in Birmingham is currently hosting a travelling exhibition of the work of modern artist Mark Wallinger. His work contains many different elements, bringing together Wallinger's abilities as a conceptualist and a painter of academic portraits of down-and-outs and horses. The exhibition includes some extremely detailed studies of birds painted on car-tyre rubber and a work entitled 'School,' a series of blackboards with perspective drawings of rooms from the artist's old school.
