Selling the family's country seats
Article Abstract:
Christies are to auction the entire stock of architectural salvage company Crowther's, in Fulham, London, England. Due to the recession only one of the three Crowther brothers will remain in business. Proceeds of the sale are expected to reach 1-5 million pounds sterling. Lots include 177 chimneypieces and many garden items, cast iron urns and stone figures. In the 1950's Crowthers had 2,000 clients a year. Business has changed, with a big increase in paperwork.

It's all true, surreally
Article Abstract:
Surrealist painter Conroy Maddox still works very hard, even though he is now 82 years old. He spent a lot of time with the original Surrealists, such as Dali and Man Ray, but has a much more conventional personal image than they did. He embraced Surrealism because it gave him total freedom, in contrast to the destructiveness of the Dada movement which went before. He is currently holding his largest-ever retrospective show.

Room with a private view
Article Abstract:
Stephen Cutts and Karina Holly sometimes transform the living room of their house in Greenwich, London, into an art gallery, receiving up to 300 visitors. The exhibitions they have held have not made any money, but they believe that their efforts are worthwhile, particularly in increasing their own knowledge of art. They have also received a picture from each exhibiting artist to hang permanently in their own home.
