Shepherds demand cull as wolves reclaim Alps
Article Abstract:
Wolves have been gradually spreading into France from the Italian Alps since the early 1990s, and a number of packs are now firmly established on remote high ground in the Parc de Mercantour, north of Nice, France, and Monaco. They are now entering some of the best sheep country in France for the first time in living memory, and considerable numbers of sheep have been killed. Sheep farmers fear that the French government will not take action until it becomes impossible to destroy the wolves.
