Should this surgeon be back in operation?
Article Abstract:
A surgeon who is HIV-positive should not be banned from performing operations, according to Professor George Browning, an ear, nose and throat surgeon who is himself in this situation. The Department of Health has stated that he may resume surgery, and he is now to hold discussions on the issue with West Glasgow Hospitals Trust and Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where he is employed. However, it may be a long time before he is able to gain full permission to undertake surgery.
