Sinn Fein confronts its day of judgement in the peace talks
Article Abstract:
Sinn Fein leaders have been negatively affected by two killings attributed to the IRA. It now seems possible that Sinn Fein will be ejected from the peace talks, even though the peace process has been largely based on a shift away from the traditional politics of exclusion. Assertions by Sinn Fein leaders that there is insufficient evidence for IRA involvement are likely to go unheeded. Expelling Sinn Fein could lead to an increase in IRA violence, and this would almost certainly be followed by Loyalist retaliation.

Adams: 'Don't pressure me over peace.' (Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams)
Article Abstract:
Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams has expressed a desire to make peace with the Unionists, but refuses to respond to pressure to declare an end to the republican war. He has stated that he will not put together a statement simply to satisfy Unionism. This comes as the Loyalist Volunteer Force, which has been responsible for a number of sectarian murders of Catholics, has made a commitment to end its campaign of violence.
