Sir Charles Frank
Article Abstract:
Physicist Charles Frank gained his first degree at Lincoln College, Oxford, England, in 1933. He gained a DPhil in 1937, and from 1936 to 1940 worked as a physicist in Berlin, Germany, a colloid chemist in Cambridge, England, and a chemist at Porton, England. He worked with R.V. Jones in Air Ministry Intelligence during the second world war. He moved to the physics department of Bristol University, England, in 1946, and was to remain there until his retirement in 1976.

Professor Alexei Anselm
Article Abstract:
Theoretical physicist Alexei Anselm graduated in physics in 1956 and gained his Cambridge degree in theoretical physics in 1961. He obtained a staff position at the Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute in 1963, and subsequently moved to the Leningrad Nuclear Physics Institute, where he was to stay for the rest of his life. He worked with Vladimir Gribov to establish the institute as a key centre for work on the high energy scattering of particles.
