Sir Edgar Keatinge
Article Abstract:
Politician Edgar Keatinge studied agriculture in Natal. He spent five years with the South African Department of Agriculture, and on his return to the UK began to farm the large family estate. He served as a Royal Artillery officer during the second world war, and became Conservative MP for Bury St Edmunds, England, in 1944, having had a long history of involvement in local government. He was director of St Madeleine Sugar Co between 1944 and 1962.

Sim Wingfield Digby
Article Abstract:
Politician Simon Wingfield Digby came from a long-standing aristocratic family, and never had to worry about money. He was adopted as a parliamentary candidate for the seat of West Dorset at the age of 27, and stood at a by-election in 1941 as a Liberal Unionist. He was selected for West Dorset in 1937, and was elected unopposed as Conservative MP for West Dorset in 1941. He was an active delegate to the Western European Union.
