Moscow puts on brave face over looted art show
Article Abstract:
The Pushkin Museum in Moscow is currently holding an exhibition of many paintings by European masters which were confiscated from the Nazis. Previously, it had never been admitted that any treasures of this kind were in Russian hands. Russia is now claiming that it should be thanked for having saved these paintings from destruction at the end of the second world war, but Germany feels that it should have been consulted before the exhibition went ahead.

Slaves from old empire rebuild Moscow
Article Abstract:
Evidence is emerging that slave labour is being used in a range of different industries in Moscow, Russia. Slave traders bring in people from the former Soviet republics, where the standard of living is extremely low, and keep them in very poor conditions. In some cases, employers seize passports, preventing the slave labourers escaping. However, many people also come voluntarily from former Soviet republics to seek work in Moscow.
